Lamar Jackson sparked a win from behind as the Baltimore Ravens took revenge on the Tennessee Titans with a 20-13 NFL playoff win on Sunday.
NFL MVP Jackson threw for a touchdown and produced a dazzling 48-yard solo to give the Ravens a relentless road victory at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
Jackson finished with 179 passing yards and 136 rushing yards.
The win was especially sweet for the Ravens, who suffered a stunning loss to the Titans in last season’s playoffs after entering the postseason as the AFC’s first seed.
For parts of Sunday it looked like history was about to repeat itself as the Titans took a 10-0 lead thanks to a touchdown from AJ Brown and a field goal from Stephen Gostkowski.
With the Titans’ defense smothering Baltimore double-threat quarterback Jackson, the Ravens were limited to a 33-yard field goal from Justin Tucker as half-time approached.
But the game was transformed with a moment of Jackson magic as the 24-year-old spotted a gap and burst into space before accelerating away from cover to dive into the corner for a touchdown.
It went 10-10 at the break, and Jackson then led the Ravens on a 10-game, 77-yard practice early in the second half that ended with JK Robbins going through a crowd of bodies for a touchdown. .
The Ravens defense, meanwhile, had done a good job of containing Titans’ star running back Derrick Henry, who was limited to just 40 yards.
Gostkowski reduced the Ravens’ lead to four points with a 25-yard basket early in the fourth quarter, but Baltimore restored their seven-point cushion when Tucker pulled in a 51-yard effort with 4:23 left to go for 20. -13.
Needing a touchdown on the next haul to level it, disaster struck the Titans with less than two minutes left when quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s deep pass to receiver Kalif Raymond was knocked back by Marcus Peters.
The Ravens took over and Jackson turned the screw with a 33-yard run in Tennessee Territory.
The Ravens duly maintained possession as time went on for the Titans.
