A “written threat” results in a strong police presence at the BWI airport; Threat Deemed Not Credible – CBS Baltimore

LINTHICUM, Maryland (WJZ) – A written threat sparked a significant police presence at Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport on Monday evening, officials said.
Southwest Airlines Flight 2104 from Phoenix to Baltimore touched down at BWI at around 5:15 p.m., when law enforcement investigated what an airport spokesperson called a “suspicious message.”

Specific details of the threat were not immediately available.

The plane had 101 passengers and crew on board, the airport said.

“To be on the safe side, the plane was parked in a remote area of the airfield,” the airport said in a statement on Twitter. “The passengers were safely off-loaded from the plane to shuttles and brought to the airport terminal.”

Authorities subsequently found the threat not credible.

“Our crew followed protocol by advising the proper authorities and moving the aircraft to a remote location pending further instructions. Authorities quickly arrived and boarded the plane, transferring all 97 passengers and six crew members to buses to be transferred to the terminal, ”a Southwest spokesperson said.

No injuries were reported.
