Alabama added more than 5,000 new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

Figures from the Alabama Department of Public Health as of Jan. 7 show the state has recorded 389,230 coronavirus cases since March, with 5,046 added since yesterday. The state also added 86 deaths – some dating back several months – to bring the total to 5,080.

ADPH said the number of cases and deaths reported this week could be inflated due to delays in reporting to ADPH.
