Toy Story fans rally for Tim Allen after Chris Evans Lightyear cast

During the Walt Disney Company Investor Day presentation last week, entertainment enthusiasts were struck by the announcement of a number of new projects and films to come over the next several years. Perhaps one of the most surprising, at least in terms of Pixar projects, was the announcement that a Toy story derivative film, Lightyear, arrives with Captain America star Chris Evans voicing Buzz Lightyear in the film. It’s an announcement that has generated a lot of excitement, but some anger from fans as well with Evans replacing Tim Allen who has been Buzz’s voice for a quarter of a century.
Will not hit theaters until June 17, 2022, Light year is described by Pixar as “the definitive story of the original Buzz Lightyear”. Evans himself then made it clear on social media that he was not playing the Buzz Lightyear toy, but rather playing the human being the toy is based on.

“I don’t even have the words… And just to be clear, this isn’t Buzz Lightyear the toy. This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear that the toy is based on, ”Evans wrote.

Even with the clarification, fans of the man aren’t happy that Allen isn’t voicing the role. Many quickly took to social media to express their contempt for the decision with the hashtag “#NotMyBuzz”. Others pointed out that Allen wasn’t the only person voicing the iconic character – Patrick Warburton voiced Buzz in the Star Command Buzz Lightyear animated series – but that they just couldn’t see Evans in the role.

At this point, little is known about Light year Beyond the description of Investor Day and Evans’ comments, so it will be interesting to see how fan reaction develops as more is learned about the project. For now, however, you can read how fans are unhappy with Evans being replaced by Allen as Buzz Lightyear. You can also share your thoughts in the comments below.
