Thiago Alcantara sends message on ‘next’ leg for Liverpool after rocky start

Thiago Alcantara is anxious for the ‘next thing’ to unfold at Liverpool as he approaches a return from injury.
The Reds’ summer signing took a big step forward in recovering from his knee problem as he was pictured training in Kirkby yesterday.

Thiago has not played since being injured in a red card from Everton star Richarlison in the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park in October.

Last night he was honored with a place in the FIFA FIFPro Men’s World11 for his performances in 2020.

Reacting to the price, he admitted that the start of his career at Anfield had been difficult with time on the sidelines.

But the midfielder is determined to fix that as soon as possible.

Thiago said: “It’s a great honor and it’s a privilege to be there among the 10 other players.

“But this kind of recognition is so huge that you have to share it with everyone who has worked with and supported you for all these years. I’m happy but I’m happier when it comes to a collective prize, that’s for sure.

« [2019-20] was definitely [my best] because in terms of collectively winning titles [with Bayern Munich], it was the best and I felt the best level of football that I have played. It’s just a recognition that you are doing good things.

“It’s a great recognition for last year but at the end we live in the present and we want to play and we want to enjoy football and enjoy it with the guys too. I look forward.

“It was not the best start I hoped for and expected [since joining Liverpool] but we are only thinking about the next thing and the next so I look forward to the next thing too.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker were also among the elite eleven.

While Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp has been recognized as the top men’s coach for the second year in a row.

Liverpool fans are hoping to see Thiago back in action during the busy Christmas schedule.

If the usual form is followed, he would need at least two full training sessions with the first team before being considered for selection by Klopp.
