It looks like the Spider-Man 3 universe continues to expand, with reports saying we’ll see some former Spidey cast members returning for the new movie: Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Kirsten Dunst in MJ and Alfred Molina in the role of Doctor Octopus. Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy are also in negotiations to return to the film franchise, Collider reported Tuesday. It follows reports months ago that Garfield and Maguire would be joining the film.

The live-action Spider-Verse appears to be coming to life, with Spider-Man 3 also seeing the Electro return of Jamie Foxx, who previously appeared in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Garfield. JK Simmons, who played Daily Bugle editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson in the Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, could also make an appearance, as at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The stars of the two previous film series would join current Spider-Man, Tom Holland, and current MJ, Zendaya.

The Spider-Verse was explored in an animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. It is not yet known if Miles Morales could join the world of live-action.

Benedict Cumberbatch to play Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3, it was reported in October. The Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero will join Peter Parker’s new mentor following the death of Tony Stark / Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cumberbatch will also return in his own sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was delayed from May 2021 to March 25, 2022.

Sony and Disney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
