SelenaHer brother says the actress who plays her on the Netflix series does an incredible job of capturing her essence … even though critics are giving her a hard time. AB Quintanillagives approval to Christian Serratos for his interpretation of the music of the Queen of Tejano in the bio-drama “Selena: The Series”, telling us that she is so good… he feels like looking at his little sister again.
Some viewers of the show aren’t so supportive, but AB feels they are either nit-picking or their reviews are wrong. For example, Serratos was criticized for his poor lip sync on ‘The Series’… but AB says it’s actually an accurate portrayal of his sister.
He tells us that Selena struggled with this early in her career and that there was a learning process before she got better… which AB says Serratos demonstrates in later episodes.
As for haters who don’t think Christian looks enough like Selena – AB points out that some people felt the same about Jennifer Lopez when she played the Mexican singer in the 1997 movie “Selena” … mostly because she’s not Mexican.
AB dismisses all of this as mean and says it’s ultimately up to the actor to make the viewer believe he is who he is playing onscreen… and Serratos nails him.
He tells us that his family are very happy with the project and that he is excited about an upcoming project – a new single in February with his band, Kumbia Kings.
