Samsung is working on an object tracker called Galaxy Smart Tag

Samsung is apparently looking to expand its Galaxy brand even more than before, this time to also encompass what will apparently be a Tile-like smart object tracker. We’re assuming this will work in concert with Samsung’s SmartThings Find feature, which was recently unveiled. SmartThings Find can find compatible Galaxy products more accurately, and the next Galaxy Smart Tag will be one of them.

But also, based on the name, it’s more likely to be a smart object tracker, to compete with Tile. The Galaxy Smart Tag has been certified by the Indonesian authorities with the model number EI-T5300.

It wouldn’t be Samsung’s first object tracker, that honor goes to the SmartThings LTE-enabled tracker from two years ago. Right now, it’s unclear how connected the Smart Tag will be – whether it’s sticking to Bluetooth only like other products on the market, or paired with additional stuff like UWB as well, LTE and / or GPS.

That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes official alongside the Galaxy S21 family during the oft-rumored mid-January event, so there’s not much time left to wait with our assumptions.
