Rodgers compares Leicester talisman Vardy to cult favorite of Liverpool

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has compared Jamie Vardy to a modern Liverpool legend, while James Maddison has revealed the club’s recent weakness has been corrected.
The Foxes clinched three rebound wins in all competitions with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Brighton.

The victory was achieved in large part thanks to the impressive performances of Maddison and club talisman Vardy who combined to score all three goals.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Rodgers said of the competition: “We knew it would be a real test.

“I enjoyed the game from a technical point of view. Graham Potter prepares his teams well. We were surprised and had to change after 20 minutes.

“With a little more quality, we could have scored one or two more. But overall we are delighted with the performance and the result.

“Still a lot to improve. We have a lot of young players playing. It is a pleasure to work with them. The table begins to take shape. ”

As for the deadly leader Vardy, Rodgers compared him to another clinical finisher he used to handle in Liverpool – Luis Suarez.

“Jamie Vardy is a great player,” he continued. “He reminds me of Luis Suarez, how he gives the team such a boost – such a catalyst.

“He doesn’t need a lot of touches. He trains every day. He takes care of his body. He’s super professional.

Slow starts have been addressed – Maddison

Double scorer Maddison also spoke with Amazon and revealed that the Foxes’ recent slow departures were at the forefront of their concerns.

“It was really good, we wanted to have a good start,” said the midfielder.

“There were a few games where we didn’t start fast enough and that’s something we were looking to improve. ”
