It’s the heartwarming moment when a Russian musician plays a duet with his cat Barney who plays the piano.

The video, which was shared widely on TikTok, features Marsel Gilmanov and his ginger cat.

The sequence begins with the cat using its front paws to press the piano keys. Later, Mr. Gilmanov joins his guitar.

The couple, from Moscow, Russia, play what could be a popular Russian folk song, although, unsurprisingly, the cat is unable to keep up the tune.

According to the cat’s profile on his webpage, which apparently compares him to a Game of Thrones character: “Meow! My name is Sir Barney of the House of the Kotarians, Born Free, Valar Murmulis, Valar Koshairis, Called Meow-Meow the First, Lord of the 7 Plateaus, Liberator of Cats and Son of the Dragon.

“In short, Barney. I am the cat of the creator of the Joy Donat platform.

“I am cocky and cocky, so sign up for my fans and don’t ask any questions!”

Almost 300,000 people shared the video. Other videos featuring solo performances of the cat have garnered over a million views.

A social media user asked if the ginger cat was Ed Sheeran.

Another suggested Barney deserved “a round of paws”.

David Carrera was so in love with the short clip that he now wants to buy a cat.

Troy Burtwell is convinced that “this video is what the Internet was made for”.

Another person described him as a “jazz musician” able to strike a blue note.

Ambrosia Webb implausibly compared the cat to Beethoven.

Mimi Goodcat, who may not be the person’s real name, suggested Barney focus on the black keys if he wished not to sound so “dissonant.”
