The NFL plans to invite vaccinated healthcare workers to attend next year’s Super Bowl in recognition of their efforts during the pandemic, League Commissioner Roger Goodell said on Wednesday.

In a letter to the head of the local Super Bowl organizing committee in Tampa, Goodell said the NFL wanted to reward frontline health workers with tickets to the February 7 centerpiece.

“We are currently in discussions with public health officials about our desire to invite vaccinated healthcare workers to the Super Bowl as guests,” Goodell wrote in the letter reported in multiple media.

“Subject to their approval and in consultation with your team, we aim to do this in a safe and responsible manner,” added Goodell.
