Neymar lost PSG

PARIS – Neymar was taken on a stretcher in the stoppage time as defending champions Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-0 at home to Lyon to fall to third in the French league on Sunday.
Neymar suffered a left ankle injury in the seventh minute of added time at the Parc des Princes following a heavy tackle from Thiago Mendes, who then received a red card.

“No news from Ney (March),” PSG coach Thomas Tuchel said after the match. “He’s with the physio and the doctors, and he will have tests tomorrow.

Lyon held on for 10 minutes of stoppage time to extend their unbeaten run to 11 games and open the title race.

PSG’s fourth loss of the season sent Lille in the lead after beating Bordeaux 2-1. Lyon are now second on goal difference, while PSG are one point behind in third place.

“We were never ready to play this game. The team was mentally very tired, we made a lot of mistakes and didn’t play with enough pace and confidence, ”said a downcast Tuchel. We didn’t concentrate enough. It is a step backwards. I’m surprised, I expected a lot more. ”

Marseille, fourth, exceeds PSG by one point but has played two games less.

PSG were without captain and center-half Marquinhos due to a hip problem and he was missed against Lyon’s attacking trio of Memphis Depay, Karl Toko Ekambi and Tino Kadewere.

They have now totaled 18 goals and nine assists in 14 games, with Toko Ekambi preparing Kadewere to shoot a diagonal shot past goalkeeper Keylor Navas in the 34th minute after the PSG defense gave up the ball without any pressure near the surface to repair.

“I think we could have won more. We had a penalty for Depay which was totally ignored, ”said Lille coach Rudi Garcia. The championship is very close and we did well to win tonight so we can continue to look ahead.

In the north of France, Lille has retained its strong form and has lost only once in the league with Lyon and Marseille.

Forward Jonathan Bamba scored the opening goal in the 16th minute, then headed captain Jose Fonte at the stroke of half-time, after midfielder Toma Basic scored for Bordeaux.

PSG have yet to play Lille twice and travel to Marseille and Lyon.

Rennes returned to victory with a rambling 1-0 victory in Nice, thanks to striker M’Baye Niang’s goal in the first half.

During the other Sunday matches, it was: Lorient 3, Nîmes 0; Nantes 1, Dijon 1; Strasbourg 2, Metz 2; and Brest 2, Reims 1.

All the teams are back in action on Wednesday night.

PSG are at home for struggling Lorient, and Marseille have a tough trip to eighth-placed Rennes. Lille visits the last place Dijon, while Lyon welcomes Brest.
