Mastro’s Ocean Club Malibu, one of Los Angeles’ biggest celebrity hotspots, is still very open for business despite the LA County ban on indoor and outdoor dining … and it’s pretty easy to defy the law and grab onto a table.
A source tells TMZ… Mastro’s still operates as an “underground open” with customers winning and dining under a large white tent set up outside the chic restaurant.

People who wish to dine out during the pandemic can make reservations over the phone… we’re told there is no password or anything like that… and there are plenty of reservations available every day. days this month on OpenTable.
The video we received was shot Tuesday night inside the makeshift dining room, and it shows all of the staff wearing face covers … adhering to the same rules set when returning from alfresco dining more early this year.
As you know … outside and inside meals were put on hold in LA County – and throughout SoCal under Newsom’s order – at the end of November, when the care capacity intensive local hospitals fell below 15%.
The change annoyed many people who does not understand what has changed to do suddenly eating outdoors less safe.
We’ve reached out to Mastro multiple times for comment, as well as the LA County Sheriff’s Department and the LA County Department of Health… so far no word in return.
The decision to stay open is certainly risky, with Governor Newsom stating that some places could lose their liquor license for breaking the rules.
