As of Sunday (December 20), some 18 million people have been ordered to stay at home to stop the spread of a mutant strain of coronavirus that was first detected in Kent in September.
Under the new Level 4 rules, residents are urged not to travel outside of their area and have been told that Christmas bubbles are no longer allowed during the holiday season.

Non-essential stores – as well as gyms, cinemas, casinos and hairdressers – have been asked to close, but some clicks and pickups are allowed to remain open.
Let’s take a look at what this means for Westfield Stratford and Westfield White City in London.
Westfield has announced that it will unveil a list of stores open at both sites.
It also published a list of all take-out and food stores open to the public.

A spokesperson said: “From Sunday, December 20, Westfield London will remain open to provide essential businesses and services to our community.
“Our supermarkets, pharmacies and food stores offering take-out and delivery services will be open, along with a number of retailers offering online delivery and collection services.
“A full list of essential stores that have remained open will be available on our website over the next few days.
“We continue to put in place one-way systems, increased hygiene practices and mandatory masks throughout the center to ensure a safe place for visitors and employees.
