Jota’s form should mark the time of Shaqiri’s passage to the Reds
Xherdan Shaqiri to seal a move out of Liverpool after being pushed back by Diogo Jota.
The 83-cap Swiss international has only started twice in five appearances in all competitions, with two substitutions all he has achieved in the Premier League.
In contrast, new boy Jota, a £ 41million signing from Wolves, has already collected nine times in 17 games so far this quarter.
Darren Bent told Football Insider:
“Jota has come in and has been absolutely stunning and I don’t think even Jota would have expected to have gone the way.
“Shaqiri, in the last couple of months he’s done well, he’s played pretty well but Jota came in, hit the ground running and yes he comfortably walked past him so maybe it’s time to Shaqiri to go out and save playing time.
“He’s still a very, very good player, he can still shake things up, he has a great left foot, great technique and there will be clubs that would like to have him in their squad.
“I think he will always go to a high level team, he will not fall all the way down, but he could go abroad.
“I’m sure he would have liked things to have gone a bit better for him and the playing time to be a lot longer, but unfortunately when you’re sitting behind Salah, Mane and Firmino it’s tough.
