Jurgen Klopp effectively confirms his first name on his Liverpool vs Wolves roster

Jurgen Klopp has effectively confirmed that goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will retain his spot for Sunday’s clash with Wolves.

The Irishman, 22, replaced injured Alisson in the 1-0 midweek win over Ajax, and with the Brazilian still injured, Klopp says he can’t think of a reason to get him out of new from the side.

“He’s a hard worker and there’s no doubt he’s going to handle all the turmoil around him very well,” said the Reds boss.

“It was a big call to launch him in this match [against Ajax] but thank God it worked. This is unfortunately not always the case, it does not make the players worse, it is just the bad timing of the manager.

“Caoimhin is an incredibly talented goalkeeper. And for the keepers, it’s really difficult, the keepers have to wait.

“They can be exceptional but they have to wait for their chance because there is only one goalkeeper on the field and if this goalkeeper plays 10 years in a row, it’s quite difficult.

“You can still be a wonderful goalie and no one will see. Now he got the chance and I think he convinced everyone.

“He didn’t need to convince us, obviously – we thought it would be like that. But he convinced everyone, that’s good. ”

The decision to pitch Kelleher against the Dutch giants came as a surprise, with former West Ham stopper Adrian seen as Liverpool’s No.2, but Klopp says the Spaniard took it well.

“Adrian doesn’t just deserve to be written off now, there’s no reason for that. He supported Caoimhin in an exceptional way. After getting the information he didn’t want to start, he behaved in an incredible way, ”he said.

“Really, very much respect for that. He actually expected it, but a lot of respect for it anyway.

“And Caoimhin did well. So, there aren’t a lot of reasons I could cite right now that he won’t start against Wolves.

“But there’s a training between and other things, he has to stay in shape, we have sessions. All that stuff.

“But he did enough to convince me, but he did it months and years ago. Sometimes you’ve waited for the right time and we thought the right time was on Tuesday. ”
