Jose Mourinho says Jurgen Klopp didn’t deserve FIFA Best Coach award

Jose Mourinho has targeted a sneaky dig on Jurgen Klopp saying his title rival should not have won the FIFA Coach of the Year award.
It comes just days after Mourinho – embroiled in a confrontation with Klopp after this week’s top-level game – suggested he would be in hot water if he emulated the sideline antics of the German.

Klopp was rewarded after leading Liverpool to their first title in 30 years last season.

But it raised eyebrows with Mourinho saying the gong should have gone in place of Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick.

Flick won the Champions League and Bundesliga titles – just two of the FIVE trophies he has won this year.

Mourinho says Klopp shouldn’t have won the award

Spurs boss Mourinho said: “I think the only chance for Flick to win is for Bayern to find him a couple of new competitions to win!

“So maybe if he wins seven titles in one season, maybe he will win the award. ”

Mourinho, whose side are stuck in the title race with Liverpool, added: “I think Flick only won the Champions League, the Bundesliga, the Pokal, the name of their cup, the Super Cup. ‘Germany and the UEFA Super Cup. He only won five. And the biggest of all.

“Poor Flick. I think the only chance for Bayern is to find two or three more trophies to see if they can win it.

Spurs, three points behind Klopp’s Reds in the title race, were beaten 2-1 at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Mourinho’s men now host Leicester tomorrow and could be six points behind by then if Liverpool beat Crystal Palace today.
