Jordyn Huitema became Canada’s all-time top scorer in the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday with a goal in Paris Saint-Germain’s 6-1 battle against Poland’s Gornik Leczna in the second leg of their round of 16.
PSG, which also featured compatriot Ashley Lawrence at the back, advanced 8-1 overall.

Huitema made it 2-0 in the 24th minute at the Georges-Lefèvre stadium, hitting the woodwork just three minutes later. The 19-year-old from Chilliwack, BC, now has six Champions League goals, one more than Janine Beckie of Manchester City, according to Canada Soccer.

Beckie started the attack for Man City in their 3-0 win over visiting Goteborg, moving City to the round of 16 by a total of 5-1.

Canadian midfielder Jessie Fleming started for Chelsea in their 3-0 win over Portuguese Benfica. The London side won the first leg 5-0.

Born in Canada, Cloe Lacasse started for Benfica. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, the former Iowa Hawkeye also holds Icelandic citizenship.

Canadian defender Kadeisha Buchanan kicked off defending champion Lyon’s 3-0 win over Juventus on Tuesday. Lyon won 6-2 overall.

Also on Tuesday, Canadian midfielder Alyssa Lagonia kicked off Servette FCCF’s 5-0 loss to Atletico Madrid. The Swiss team were beaten 9-2 on aggregate with Lagonia of Kitchener, Ont., Scoring from the penalty spot in the first leg.

The draw for the round of 16 is scheduled for February 21.
