Pep Guardiola has warned Arsenal not to fire Mikel Arteta because his former assistant is the best man for the job.
Next week will be a year since Arsenal made Arteta their manager after sacking Unai Emery.
The Spaniard helped the club move from outside the top ten to inside the top half of the table at the end of this campaign.
He also won the FA Cup and the Community Shield in August.
He received a lot of support from the club during the last transfer window, but his team are in trouble for the moment.
They are 15th in the Premier League table after Burnley beat them in the Emirates on Sunday.
The Spaniard has come under pressure due to his team’s performance, and some fans have started to demand his sacking.
However, Guardiola says Arsenal cannot afford to fire him as he is one of the best managers in the business and he only left Manchester City because of his love for Arsenal.
Guardiola said via Sun Sport: “Sometimes when a club comes from a period that is not so good, sometimes they need time.
“I would say to Arsenal’s board that I have no doubts about their quality and their ability to put Arsenal in the place they deserve.
“Arsenal couldn’t have had a better manager to lead this club this year and the next – no one is better than him.
“He’s one of the best managers I’ve worked with and seen directly.
“For his personality, his commitment and his love for his club – because if it weren’t for the love of his club, he would still be there.”
