GDES wins a nuclear maintenance contract in France

The Spanish company GD Energy Services (GDES) has won a new EDF contract for the surface maintenance of four reactors in two nuclear power plants in France.

The initial five-year contract covers the supply of surface treatments and anticorrosion coatings for the exterior and interior of the reactors of the Blayais and Civaux nuclear power plants. There is an option for a further three-year contract extension, GDES said.

For this project, GDES plans to deploy six professionals in each of the nuclear power plants, as well as a support team that will be needed for additional tasks that will arise during the contract.

“These tasks are essential to ensure the proper maintenance of buildings and structures, protecting the plant against erosion and corrosion,” said GDES.

The company already provides maintenance for the nuclear power plants of Saint-Laurent, Bugey, Cruas and Tricastin. With this new contract, GDES now ensures the maintenance of 12 of the 56 reactors in operation in France.

“Being in charge of maintenance services for surfaces and coatings for 21% of French nuclear facilities is a great success, the fruit of our efforts and our commitment to offer innovative, reliable and quality services, strategic allies for our customers; and it is a sign of the impact that we hope to have in France in the years to come ”, declared Héctor Dominguis, CEO of GDES.

GDES has been present on the French nuclear market for more than a decade, reaching a turnover of 18 million euros in 2019.
