The popular TV couple will take over the airwaves in homes across the country on Christmas Day as they come together to host a unique radio show on BBC Radio Wales.
And they won’t be alone, as the special guests who will join the pair include Gavin and Stacey co-stars, Melanie Walters, Larry Lamb, Alison Steadman, Steffan Rhodri, Robert Wilfort and Laura Aikman.
The host of famous faces will also be joined by Welsh singers Bonnie Tyler and Shakin ‘Stevens.
And of course, not everything to do with Gavin & Stacey wouldn’t be complete without Smithy, so there’s a special message from co-creator and star James Corden as well.
Joanna is a familiar voice at the station after her Sunday Morning series with Joanna Page earlier this year.
Speaking about her brand new festive offering, Joanna said: “I love Christmas and had a fantastic time doing my show on BBC Radio Wales, so when it emerged that we could do a show on Christmas Day, I knew if there was anyone I wanted to share this with, it was Mat. I love working with him, he is so much fun.

“I can’t wait to chat with some brilliant friends and show guests. We have great quizzes, classical Christmas music and a little fun! ”
Mathew was also keen to work with his co-star again, saying, “I jumped at the chance to do this show with Jo. I love working with Jo, I love Wales and I love doing radio.
“Christmas Day is a special day and especially this year it has been very difficult for a lot of people, so it’s nice to feel that we could bring some joy. ”

BBC Radio Wales editor-in-chief Colin Paterson said: “We are delighted to be back with Joanna and Mathew this Christmas. Having Wales’ most beloved couple, out of character, is a real treat. We hope their sense of fun will lift everyone’s spirits. ”
The reunion comes a year after Gavin & Stacey’s festive TV comeback, which has been watched by millions.
And while fans of Gavin and Stacey may be disappointed that they don’t have a new Christmas special this year, all hope is not lost as BBC content manager Charlotte Moore teased last week. that the show could come back ‘One day’.
And with Ruth Jones saying last month that the “The door is closed but it is not locked” maybe new episodes could be on the horizon.
