The Salvation Army’s services are needed more than ever as people face new financial challenges and worrying realities.
The Salvation Army in Kelowna and Westside have seen an increase in demand for their programs and services over the past year.
One of these programs is the “Emergency Food Baskets” program which is specifically designed to meet the nutritional needs of the homeless.
A donation of $ 3,000 from the Gary Bennett Family Fund and his supporters was used to support Salvation Army food programs, $ 1,500 to the Salvation Army in Westside and $ 1,500 to the Kelowna location .
The funds were spent at the Westbank Real Canadian Superstore to collect non-perishable items such as boosters, fruit snacks, ready-to-eat soups, tuna, and protein bars.
Supermarket manager Tony Gorjanc provided an additional $ 100 in products to support the cause.
“We are proud to support the work of The Salvation Army in Westside and Kelowna because of the work they do and the way they do it,” says Gary Bennett.
The Gary Bennett Family Fund supports Kelowna’s youth through school breakfast programs, scholarships, and support for the Central Okanagan Food Bank.
