Five transfers Man Utd could make this summer, including Sancho and Haaland, as Woodward vows to back Solskjaer

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ed Woodward has revealed that the club will focus on the big business during the summer transfer periods.

At the recent Manchester United Fan Forum meeting, Woodward revealed that the club will target a ‘long-term approach to recruiting, focused on summer windows’.

What Man Utd could look like with FIVE new signings next summer

United signed Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo in the summer of 2021 – spending around £ 100million.

And Woodward’s most recent claim suggests that large buys should keep moving forward.

With that in mind, we took a look at five Man Utd players. COULD sign next summer …

THE saga has been booming all summer, but United have never landed their man.

Borussia Dortmund have been clear in their demands from the start: £ 108million for Sancho or no deal.

United missed the August 10 deadline set by the Germans to submit an offer of more than £ 60-70million in advance with the remainder paid in installments.

The offer was quickly turned down, with Old Trafford chiefs still confident they would hit their # 1 goal before the deadline.

But over time United were forced to look elsewhere and worked quickly to bring in FOUR new faces on deadline day.

Sancho, 20, is still top of United’s wishlist – but they are expected to wait until summer with the club still desperate for a natural right winger.

The England ace have reportedly agreed to personal terms – United just have to push Dortmund to sell.

While a right winger is a must to move forward, it seems the same is true for a natural striker.

Marcus Rashford has been excellent on the inside on the left in recent months.

But he and Anthony Martial seem more adept on the wing than in the natural role of No9.

Cavani brought his scoring skills with him to Old Trafford.

But he only signed a one-year contract, with an option for a second.

Even if the Uruguayan remains for the 2021-22 season, United would love another natural center-forward – perhaps younger, too.

Haaland has long been linked with United, even from his RB Salzburg days.

Real Madrid love the 20-year-old Dortmund striker, but Solskjaer would love to bring his compatriot Norway – whom he coached at Molde – to Old Trafford.

ANOTHER point of weakness for United is at the heart of defense.

Harry Maguire – the world’s most expensive defender with £ 85million – has been around almost always since his arrival in the summer of 2019.

But at his side, it’s another story, with the likes of Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe have all tried.

Luke Shaw has also played left of a fullback on three occasions.

Another big name United have long been linked to is Koulibaly, 29, rivals Liverpool and Man City are also fond of the Napoli ace.

Man Utd is also believed to be linked with Villarreal star Pau Torres – and could drop Eric Bailly to secure a deal on the line.

Camavinga would be perfect for a deep role at Old Trafford5

BIZARRELY, United’s greatest strength is arguably also their greatest weakness.

Solskjaer has the likes of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic in his central midfielder ranks.

But finding the right combination has proven difficult.

United could decide to bring in a few new faces, while also selling a couple in order to get a fresh start.

Fernandes will almost certainly start as No10 – leaving OF THEM free places in deeper roles.

One of them could be fulfilled by the Rennes prodigy Camavinga.

The Frenchman, 18, has shown skill well beyond his years and is reportedly keen on a move to Real Madrid.

But with Los Blancos also targeting Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, they could be forced not to sign Camavinga.

Most naturally suited to a deep role, he would fit right in with Old Trafford … if they manage to sign him.

Camavinga will only cost £ 45million, which could be a superb investment given his age and potential.

He also recently sacked his agent, apparently in an attempt to force a move to one of the European giants. Watch this place.

ANOTHER well-suited option for United would be Borussia Mönchengladbach ace Denis Zakaria.

Sought after by Chelsea and Man City as well as United, it’s easy to see why the 24-year-old Swiss defensive midfielder is in demand.

The city has reportedly already contacted Zakaria’s agent.

But United would love to team up with Camavinga with Zakaria, should the opportunity arise, in what would be a well-balanced – and young, double-pivot.
