Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti calls on his players to ‘keep fighting’ for Premier League top-four after clinical win over Leicester

Carlo Ancelotti has warned Everton they cannot afford to make a mistake in the Champions League race after a clinical 2-0 victory at Leicester.

Goals from Richarlison and Mason Holgate took victory at King Power Stadium as the Toffees closed the gap to the top four.

They are fifth in the Premier League, just one point and one place behind the Foxes, having built on Saturday’s victory over Chelsea.

Leicester had a late penalty overturned but organized Everton were still in control and boss Ancelotti knows they have to maintain their standards.

“We are where we want to be. If the season ends today we will be happy, ”said the Italian, who lost Allan to a hamstring injury in the first half.

Unfortunately the season is so long and we have to keep fighting to stay in this position.

“We were able to repeat the same performance we did against Chelsea. We were strong defensively and when we had the chance we scored.

“We were well organized and this is an important result. We were comfortable defensively, they had more ball but they didn’t have the opportunity to score.

The full four work well together, compact, strong and we don’t push a lot with the full backs so it’s hard for them to find us out of balance.

“It was not a penalty, André (Gomes) touched the ball, clearly. “
