Oscar-nominated star Ellen Page has turned into a transgender man named Elliot, six years after publicly revealing he was gay.

The 33-year-old actor, married to dancer and choreographer Emma Portner since 2018, took to Twitter Tuesday morning to share an emotional statement with the revelation, writing: “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he / they and my name is Elliot.

“I feel lucky to write this. To have arrived at this place in my life.

Elliot, who received an Oscar for his role in the 2008 hit film Juno, asking his followers and fans to be “patient,” admitting he was “afraid” of “invasion, hate, the jokes and violence ”that he may face to move forward.

“My job is real, but it’s also fragile,” the actor said, adding, “The truth is that although I feel deeply happy right now and know how many privileges I carry, I have also scared. “

The actor, who is currently preparing to film the third season of hit Netflix The Umbrella Academy, also revealed changes to his official social media accounts, posting on Twitter under the username @TheElliotPage and on Instagram under the name of @elliotpage.

Elliot thanked his loved ones for their support throughout his journey, expressing his “immense gratitude” for helping him reach a stage where he felt comfortable “pursuing his authentic self.”

Shortly after the actor released his statement, his wife Emma expressed her public support for Elliot on Instagram, while reiterating her partner’s call for patience.

“I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world, ”Emma wrote.

‘I also ask for patience and confidentiality [and] that you join me in fervently supporting the trans life every day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in itself. Shine on sweet E. I love you so much.

Elliot’s decision to publicly reveal that he is transgender comes nearly three years after the couple tied the knot in a secret ceremony, having only had public relations for six months.
