DECLAN RICE is having an unforgettable weekend.
On Friday night, he helped his West Ham side secure a 2-1 victory over Leeds that propelled them to the top of the table and, in his opinion, turned them into title contenders.
And then on Saturday, he sandwiched himself between world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather for an incredible photo opportunity.
The England international joined the boxers backstage at Wembley Arena after witnessing Kubrat Pulev’s destructive AJ knockout.
Hammer had been at ringside for the fight, sharing images on Instagram in which he zoomed in on Mayweather and could then be heard shouting “go” after witnessing AJ’s knockout blow.
Rice beamed as he threw his thumbs up at the cameras.
And it’s no wonder he has a smile on his face at the moment, as he feels West Ham is fighting for the Premier League title.
Friday’s win at Leeds left David Moyes’ side four points off the top after winning four of their last five games.
And Rice insists the East Londoners should already be in the lead because they could be better off by six points.
The Hammers star said, “We’re looking for a real threat now.
“We were fifth overnight and we know we shouldn’t have lost at Arsenal.
“We should have won this game easily.
“And Manchester United at home, the ball comes out but they scored, it’s a different game and we lose.
“That’s six points and we could be in the top four up there fighting.
“This is the buzz we have around the place. Confidence flies away and everyone fights for each other. I’m buzzing. ”
Angelo Ogbonna’s towering header finally won the points at Elland Road.
And England midfielder Rice, 21, added: “Angelo is so good. Honestly, he’s just taken it to another level this season.
“He looks like a real top, a top center-half.
He always has been, but this season he’s stepped up when it counted.
“We’re in such good shape that we have two center-backs and a keeper playing out of their skin.”
