The cost of the coronavirus vaccine will be covered by the federal government and will be free to all Canadians, the Prime Minister announced Thursday.
The announcement comes just hours after a first ministers meeting earlier Thursday, in which Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he told provincial and territorial premiers that his government would cover the cost of the vaccine , as well as the cost of the supplies needed to administer them.

“Today’s meeting gave us the opportunity to talk about our work together to fight this pandemic and what we are doing to help Canadians and Canadian businesses during this crisis,” Trudeau said.

The meeting, which was repeatedly requested by premiers during the pandemic, was originally intended to focus on long-term funding for federal health care.
