NEW YORK CITY (WABC) – The hit musical ‘Hamilton’ could make history again by becoming the first show to return to Broadway after the pandemic. Page Six, the award-winning show plans to reopen at the Richard Rodgers Theater, according to Page Six July 4, 2021.
The publication reports that Governor Cuomo is expected to give the green light for theaters to reopen in June with limited capacity. Most shows don’t expect to return until next fall, when they can fill enough venues to do so. benefits.

Broadway theaters abruptly closed on March 12, eliminating all shows – including 16 that were still scheduled to open – and indefinitely postponing the Tony Awards schedule.

The growers, citing health and municipal authorities, have extended the shutdown until June 7, then again until September 6 and finally until January 2021 at the earliest.

Broadway grossed $ 1.8 billion last season and drew a record 15 million people.

Producers and unions have discussed how theaters can safely reopen.

The latest shutdown extension, announced in June, wiped out many shows scheduled for the fall.
