A suspected con artist who allegedly impersonated Hollywood’s top female executives and trapped aspiring stars for hundreds of thousands of dollars has been arrested in Manchester after a US extradition request.

Nicknamed the “queen of Hollywood crooks”, the suspect was identified in court documents Thursday as Hargobind Tahilramani, a 41-year-old Indonesian.

The Justice Department and FBI have released the seven-page grand jury indictment, according to entertainment news website The Hollywood Reporter, outlining eight federal charges, including wire fraud, conspiracy for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

It is alleged that Tahilramani swindled dozens of victims by luring them to Indonesia on the promise of a job.

Once there, they were tricked into handing over money for initial costs and expenses – but the projects never materialized and the money was never paid back.

It is also alleged that Tahilramani – also known as Gobind Lal Tahil – allegedly threatened violence if people questioned his alleged identity.

He would threaten to “dismember” them or send them pictures of their children, according to the indictment.

The series of identity theft scams began in 2015 and continued for five years, even during the coronavirus pandemic. He also moved to the UK in 2016, before being unmasked last month.

“The accused was arrested in the UK on the basis of a US request for provisional arrest for his extradition,” an FBI spokesperson in San Diego told AFP , California.

Tahilramani also allegedly impersonated Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy

Among the Hollywood tycoons allegedly personified by Tahilramani were Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy, former Sony film director Amy Pascal, and former Paramount boss Sherry Lansing.

He also claimed to be Wendi Murdoch, the ex-wife of News Corp executive chairman Rupert Murdoch, Christine Hearst Schwarzman, the intellectual property attorney and wife of billionaire Blackstone Group CEO Stephen Schwarzman, and prominent business mogul. from Singapore and so-called “Bond Street Boss” Christina Ong.

He would “use false accents and change his voice to sound like a woman” – according to the documents.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tahilramani was arrested by Manchester police last week with the help of private investigators.

In a statement to AFP, co-founder Jules Kroll said K2 had helped US, UK and Indonesian authorities “bring to justice the individual known as ‘Con Queen of Hollywood’.
