British homeowner delays sale of house after Banksy mural appears

LONDON – Banksy’s latest mural has delayed a homeowner’s plans to sell in England after it recently appeared on the house’s exterior wall.
The British street artist’s elusive piece – titled ‘Aachoo !! – represents an elderly woman sneezing, sending her dentures out of her mouth. It is painted on the side of the house on a steep street in the southwest city of Bristol. The result is that his sneeze seems to bring down buildings.

The creation was discovered on the wall of the semi-detached house on Thursday. UK media reported that the owners, who had previously put a ‘sold’ sign outside, were withdrawing from the sale as Banksy’s art could skyrocket the property’s value.

However, Nick Makin told the BBC on Saturday that it was not true that his mother, Aileen Makin, had taken the house off the market.

“It increases the value, and you have to take a moment to think about it, but it doesn’t change anything in terms of selling the house for us,” Makin said.

He said the sale was suspended for 48 hours and the family was trying to make sure the artwork would be protected.

Banksy posted the piece on his website and Instagram page and his publicist confirmed he created the work. He started his spray painting career in buildings in Bristol and has gone on to become one of the best known artists in the world. Some of his art is sold by the millions.
