TV science educator known as Bill Nye the Science Guy turned to TikTok to simplify the science behind wearing masks.

“Greetings, Bill NYE here with more on masks,” Nye says in a video which was redistributed on Twitter by comedian Christopher Titus.
“Here is a map of the United States. Red ink shows where people wear masks. The black ink shows where people get sick from the coronavirus, ”he explains. “I hope you can see the fewer masks there are, the more sick there are.

The “Science Guy” continues: “Viruses don’t travel alone, they travel through small droplets of spit and snot. The fibers are entangled, so when the droplet enters the fibers of a mask, it is trapped. It’s not that hard to figure out, everyone. That’s why we have rules on wearing a mask. ”

Urging people to listen to the advice of health experts on wearing a face mask, he adds, “Everyone, please wear a mask. Thank you! ”
