Anderson Cooper and Ina Garten discuss the joys of peanut butter and jelly


Garten, the prolific cookbook author and star of Food Network’s “Barefoot Contessa”, has joined “Full Circle” to talk about cooking for comfort during tough times.

Garten reflected on how she has stayed connected with fans via social media this year, including a viral video of her mixing up a giant cosmos.

“So I started making things for Instagram to kind of get people across. And then one day I thought, I think we all need a cocktail, ”she said.
Anderson shared how much he loved watching Garten’s show even though he doesn’t like to cook, and admitted he made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner last night.

“I was so happy,” he said. “I just loved it. ”

Garten revealed that she also developed a new appreciation for age-old staples.

“I have to say that at the start of the pandemic, that’s what (my husband) Jeffrey and I had too. And I don’t think I’ve ever had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I mean, my mom never did them. And we were like, it’s awesome. ”

Garten said the current guilty pleasures are simmered soups and stews, including a unique twist to a classic recipe she shares in her new book “Modern Comfort Food.”

“I wanted to make it like a classic American beef stew, but I replaced the beef, which is usually boring, with short ribs, which have a lot more flavor. And then I kind of borrowed ingredients from the French bourguignon beef and put in a lot of red wine and brandy and it’s just satisfying. ”
