Active COVID cases in the southern zone fell by 93 in one week

Compared to the same period last week, the number of active cases in the region has fallen to 93 and 57 specifically for Lethbridge.

As of yesterday’s update, 11 Albertans have died from COVID, including 10 in the Edmonton area and one in the south area. To date, the provincial death toll has reached 744.

The new death in the southern area was for a person from the MD of Taber.

Provincially, 742 patients are currently hospitalized and 137 have been admitted to intensive care.

With 16,353 tests performed in the last 24 hours, a total of 2,544,564 tests were performed on 1,581,863 different people.

The regional distribution of COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Zone d’Edmonton – 35,603 cases, 9,946 active
    • 369 deaths (10 new)
    • 419 in hospital, 90 in ICU
  • Calgary Zone – 32,668 cases, 7,331 active
    • 240 dead
    • 203 in hospital, 35 in intensive care
  • North zone – 5538 cases, 1250 active
    • 56 dead
    • 35 in hospital, four in intensive care
  • South zone – 4594 cases, 553 active
    • 52 deaths (one new)
    • 20 in hospital, four in intensive care
  • Central areas – 4,711 cases, 1,496 active
    • 26 dead
    • 65 in hospital, four in intensive care

The distribution of the southern health zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1318 cases (one new), 32 active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,276 cases (14 new), 207 active, seven deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 484 cases (eight new), 65 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 394 cases (six new), 52 active, three deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 398 cases, 90 active, two deaths
  • County of Lethbridge – 396 cases (two new), 54 active, three deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 384 cases (eight new), 83 active, five deaths
  • MD de Taber – 292 cases (two new), 35 active, six deaths (one new)
  • Cardston County – 229 cases (10 new), 52 active, six deaths
  • Warner County – 138 cases, 11 active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 135 cases (three new), 14 active, zero deaths
  • Newell County – 135 cases (two new), 17 active, two deaths
  • Forty Mile County – 112 cases, zero assets, two deaths
  • Pincher Creek General Manager – 81 cases (two new), 38 active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 55 cases, six active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Cabbage – Ten cases, three active, zero deaths
