Drew McIntyre regains WWE Championship
McIntyre opened the show with an in-ring promo targeting Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. He was interrupted by Orton on the Tron, who spoke of being the most fined and most suspended superstar in the record, claiming he was still in WWE despite all of this because he was the greatest wrestler of all time. After McIntyre said he was going to put his foot in Orton’s head, The Miz and John Morrison were next to interrupt, saying they would be ringside for the title match later that night. – and that Miz would be the man to hold the title. at the end of the night.
Bray Wyatt bat. Le Miz via pinfall after hitting Sister Abigail. A line from Miz in his previous promo about Wyatt being a “Crazy, Delirious Fool” led Wyatt to expose the challenge for the match in a Firefly Fun House match. Miz tried to apologize before the match, saying there was no good reason to have the match and find a peaceful solution instead, like working together to take out Orton in the main event. Alexa Bliss came out from the back and said, “He said no. Nikki Cross then came out and told Bliss that she had to leave Wyatt, only to be slapped and attacked by Bliss. Morrison got involved outside on several occasions, but was eventually attacked by Alexa Bliss, with the couple falling over the ring barricade. Miz tried to capitalize on the distraction but was knocked out by a sister Abigail for the finish, effectively removing Miz from the main event equation.
WWE Championship – Drew McIntyre beats. Randy Orton (c) via pinfall to win the title. McIntyre had a new entrance, walking to the ring wearing a kilt and stabbing a giant claymore sword in the entrance ramp – both were given to him earlier in the night by Sheamus, who said he had them had obtained from McIntyre’s mother and that they were family. inheritances. McIntyre dominated early, forcing Orton to decide to leave and take the 10 count, but Adam Pearce interrupted to say the game now had no scoring or disqualification. Orton quickly introduced a chair into the equation, using the weapon to take over. Orton would continue to take shortcuts, using the ring steps and a thumbs-up as McIntyre returned. McIntyre managed to hit a Future Shock DDT for a count of two, then knocked Orton off the ring apron through a ringside table for another close drop. After more back and forth, McIntyre hit the Claymore to win back the championship.
The show as a whole has been maintained with a tight focus on the major storylines heading into Survivor Series with little unnecessary grease around the edges. It paid off well as the night seemed to be constantly evolving towards the main event. McIntyre and Orton then had time to put on a game that could have had a Main Event almost any card. The only minor misstep was having Miz absent altogether because he was taken out by Wyatt, which eliminated the “What if?” »Feel that was established in the opening segment. For anyone complaining about a short reign for Orton, I suggest you look at the history of the NWA World Championship to realize that even in the ’70s and’ 80s, doing business sometimes required a short term. Survivor Series team issues continue
Asuka, Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke have won. Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler & Lana via submission after Asuka puts Lana in Asuka Lock. Before the match, Baszler and Jax told Lana – who was the one who requested the match – that she was not to join under any circumstances. Baszler slapped Rose’s arm on the steps of the ring at the start of the match. Baszler locked Asuka in the Kirifuda clutch but Lana tagged herself and kicked a kick for a two count. Asuka then quickly locked Asuka’s lock for the finish. This, of course, meant that Jax followed the end of the match by putting Lana through the announcement table with a Samoan drop. Later, as Brooke gave a behind-the-scenes update on Rose’s health, she was attacked by Reckoning and stomped on in equipment crates. Rose and Brooke were announced as now unable to compete in Survivor Series, with Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans announced as replacements.
Retribution déf. Riddle, Keith Lee, Braun Strowman et Sheamus via pinfall when Mustafa Ali rolled up Riddle. The match was organized by AJ Styles as an attempt to build team chemistry, which Ali seemed to object to, saying his group was not a collection of pawns and that he would simply wait to see Team Raw. collapse. Problems within Team Raw immediately surfaced with Strowman and Sheamus before spilling out into an argument with Styles over his claim to be the team’s captain. Lee had a big attack after a hot tag, preparing his team to take over, but Sheamus used a blind tag to get into the ring, Strowman did the same seconds later, and then Sheamus stopped Strowman from hitting. powerslam. This led to an argument within the team, allowing Ali to ride Riddle for the win.
Similar to the WWE title image, everything was pretty focused throughout the night here, but the changes to the women’s squad didn’t make much sense unless there was some legitimate injury involved. Rose is believed to have been legitimately injured last week which would require taking Brooke out of the game and is a team that will likely seek the titles soon. The men’s team seems so dominant on paper that further establishing the issues between the members was a very good move before the Survivor series. Category B
