Woman’s body found after firefighters called for burning person in forest


The body of a woman was discovered after rescuers were called in to report a person on fire in a forest in Manchester.Firefighters rushed to the scene just after 6pm today and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers came shortly later.

The Greater Manchester Fire Department was called with the first reports of a person on fire.

Two policemen were seen holding a white sheet in the wooded area.

Officials have not disclosed any information about the woman, including her identity and age, or the circumstances of the fire, the Manchester Evening News reports. The woman’s cause of death is under investigation.

Firefighters and police rushed to the scene just after 6 p.m. on Saturday

The officers installed a cordon around the scene.

Fire investigators and GMP agents were both present on Saturday evening.

Crime scene investigation teams are also said to be present at the scene.

Police have opened an investigation into the woman’s death

A GMP spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 6.15pm this evening by firefighters to report a fire in a wood near Williams Road in Moston.

“The emergency services came and unfortunately found the body of a woman.

“A scene is in place and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. ”

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire Department said: “We were called at 6:01 pm to a person on fire in a wooded area off Williams Road in Moston.

“The first investigations suggest a fire in a wooded area which involved a female victim.

“The fire investigation, the North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police are all present. ”
