Wales coronavirus rules: Can I meet friends and family outside in parks?

Residents of Wales will not be allowed to meet outside more than three other people outside their home or bubble after the firebreak ends. The new set of national rules will enter into force on November 9, and there will still be fairly substantial restrictions on individual freedoms.

Although risks from the virus are lower outside, the Welsh government will not allow more than four people from different households to meet outside after the firewall ends.

“We are looking for a cohesive four-person model,” said Health Minister Vaughan Gething. “So four people inside can go to a restaurant or a pub. People from outside have to do it in [groups of] no more than four too. For some people it will be the pattern of their life and for others it will be more difficult. ”

Social distancing and other measures, such as hand hygiene, should be observed.

“Outdoor” dating does not include people’s gardens, which leads some to wonder why they could meet four people from different households in a pub but not in a garden.

Speaking at the Welsh Government’s daily briefing on Wednesday, Mental Health, Welfare and Welsh Language Minister Eluned Morgan said: ‘What we wanted to do was make sure that we allowed for people to meet in a controlled environment. We know that this pub Owners have a long history of being able to control their own environment. What we don’t know is how it will play out in people’s homes, so we want to give people the opportunity to meet… in a controlled environment. ”

People may meet indoors and outdoors for “organized events” in larger numbers (15 indoors and 30 outdoors) but this does not apply to impromptu gatherings.

In an interview with WalesOnline, Mr Gething said: “We are looking at an organized event where there is an organized body that takes responsibility for the event. So in the summer it was things like outside the gyms where the event organizers were responsible.

” In many ways [it applies to] things like organized sport too. If you take your child to junior football or junior rugby, this is an organized event.

“The challenge then comes when people have more impromptu events, whether it’s a party or a barbecue. This is when we get to things that don’t really fit the definition of an organized event.
