Wagatha Christie court hears live updates as Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy case begins

The most high-profile legal battle of the year is to begin today with the first High Court hearing in the Rebekah Vardy vs Coleen Rooney defamation case. The couple clashed in public in October last year when Coleen, 34, accused Rebekah, the wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, of leaking stories about her to the hurry.

This sparked a huge controversy, with the case being dubbed “Wagatha Christie” due to Coleen’s apparent research skills to find out what she claimed to have taken place.

Ms Rooney wrote: “For a few years now, someone I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has regularly updated The Sun newspaper about my private posts and stories. ”

She added that she blocked everyone except an Instagram page owned by Ms Vardy from viewing her Instagram stories, and then “posted a bunch of fake stories to see if they made their way through. The Sun ”within five months.

Ms. Rooney added dramatically, “I recorded and captured all of the original stories that clearly show only one person saw them.

” This is ……………. Rebekah Vardy’s account. ”

However, Rebekah denies the allegations and seeks libel damages.

At a preliminary hearing in London on Thursday, Judge Warby will be asked to determine the “natural and ordinary” meaning of Ms Rooney’s Instagram and Twitter posts that accused Rebekah of leaking the stories.

The proceedings are due to start at 10:30 am and we will have updates from the court.
