NEW YORK CITY (WABC) – Mayor Bill de Blasio has closed public schools in New York City in response to COVID-19 positivity rates reaching the 3% threshold. The move draws criticism and backlash among 1,1 million families affected who do not have computers, the Internet or childcare.Meanwhile, New York teachers have been promised a safe environment before school even starts this year. Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza and Teachers Union President Michael Mulgrew weigh on both sides of the argument. .
