UFC Vegas 14 took place last night (Saturday, November 14, 2020) in Las Vegas, Nevada, with a light scrap that saw Rafael dos Anjos defeat Paul Felder in the face of a split decision (highlights). In the act of co-headlining, Khaos Williams knocked out Abdul Razak Hassan in just half a minute (see here).
Winner: Rafael dos Anjos
Who he should face next: Islam Makhatchev
“RDA” earned a well-deserved victory after beating Felder by split decision after losing twice in a row at welterweight. After two canceled attempts to book a bout between dos Anjos and Makhachev, the UFC matchmakers are expected to try it one more time. I really want to see this fight and the fans deserve it after hanging it in front of us like a carrot only to have it removed due to unfortunate circumstances. If the promotion doesn’t want to re-roll the dice, then maybe a game against Gregor Gillespie is in order. The wrestling powerhouse hasn’t competed since being knocked out by Kevin Lee over a year ago, so he should be set to return. While dos Anjos wants to sort out his unfinished business with Conor McGregor, I really don’t see the promotion for it at the moment, even though “Notorious” is open to it.
Winner: Khaos Williams
Who he should face next: Prix Niko
Khaos is quickly starting to make a name for himself and is already a rising star in the welterweight division. As it progresses, the fighting will only intensify. Then for Khaos, I would like to see a fight between him and Price. Niko just fought Donald Cerrone a few months ago, which ended in a draw. After the fight, Price was temporarily suspended after failing a drug test after the fight. When he comes back to action, a showdown against Williams seems like a fun piece to do.
Winner: Ashley Yoder
Who she should fight next: Amanda Lemos
Yoder broke his two-losing streak by beating Miranda Granger after 15 minutes of action. A fight with Lemos seems appropriate for Yoder next. Lemos is currently on a two-game winning streak, raising his record to 8-1-1 (2-1 UFC). Both women are far enough away from claiming a Top 15 spot, so for now, taking any fight that comes up will help the cause.
Winner: Sean Strickland
Who he should fight next: David Zawada
Strickland scored a huge victory after beating Brendan Allen, giving him his third consecutive victory. Zawada, meanwhile, comes off a big win over Abubakar Nurmagomedov, who failed a year ago. He was scheduled to face Mounir Lazzez last month, but after Lazzez tested positive for COVID-19 he was forced to step down. Both men are currently away for the Top 15 in a stacked middleweight division, but a win for either brings them one step closer to the breakthrough.
Winner: Cory McKenna
Who she should fight next: Loma Lookboonmee
McKenna made his UFC debut by knocking out compatriot 21-year-old Kay Hansen by unanimous decision. With the win, “The Hobbit” drops to 6-1, winning his last four. For her second effort, a fight against Lookboonmee seems appropriate as she also had a big win recently. Indeed, Loma defeated Jinh Yu Frey last month at UFC Fight Island 4. The two women are seven fights deep into their professional MMA careers, so one does not have the experience advantage over the one. ‘other.
