YouTuber Jake Paul returned to the ring on Saturday night during the Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. co-event main event, knocking out former NBA player Nate Robinson in the second round.
It was a brutal finish from an opponent who clearly didn’t have enough boxing experience, and a reminder that boxing is no joke, even at the freakshow level. Robinson lay face down on the canvas unconscious for over a minute (see the finish here). We hope he was paid fairly well for the concussion.
“My career goal was to do exactly what I did,” Jake Paul said after the fight. “To have an undeniable victory and steal the show. And prove to the boxing world, which has doubted me for the past six months, that I am a professional boxer and that I am here to stay.
Now Paul is looking to stop defeating YouTube celebrities / non-combat athletes and focus on MMA fighters.
“When you put those 10 ounce gloves on me I’m vicious, I can hit.” I’m a real dog, ”said Paul. “When these MMA fighters step into the ring, they will meet ‘The Problem Child’. They will meet me. And I’m here to make millions of dollars and sell millions of pay-per-view and I’m going to be one of the biggest stars. I think I might be the new Floyd.
He certainly has Floyd’s confidence, if not maybe the skills to back him up. At this point, Paul has proven that he can take out an inexperienced fighter, but we doubt he can hang out with any of the people he’s called into MMA over the past two years: Ben Askren, Dillon Danis and certainly not Conor McGregor. , who Paul said was an “inevitable” adversary.
“I think I just consolidated myself as one of the greatest fighters, so someone will have to come with the bag or I could promote myself,” Paul said. “Then we’ll see.”
I mean what fighter with that big rig calls Mcgregor?
SON GONNA HAPPEN. YOU ALL SEE. @AudieAttar

If he wants to stretch the viability of his career as a boxing shooter, maybe some of his less difficult options should come first? Paul also suggested avenging the loss of his brother to KSI. There’s also beef with an influencer named Austin McBroom. What if he really wants to become a snake eating his own tail, he even said he would do his brother?
It’s all a little bold, but there is clearly interest and money to be made. And according to Mike Tyson, the sport of boxing should be thanking guys like Logan Paul for reconnecting the average fan with another “dying sport.”
“Listen: my ego says so many things, but the reality is they help boxers so much,” Tyson said during his event’s post-fight press conference. “Boxers owe these guys, these YouTube boxers, a kind of respect. They should give them belts because these guys bring boxing to life. Boxing was a dying sport. The UFC was kicking us. And now we have the YouTube boxers? Boxers with 25 million views? Boxing is coming back… thanks to YouTube boxers. ”
