The Weeknd speaks out after failing to score nominations for the 2021 Grammy Awards. The “Blinding Lights” singer, who was recently announced as the 2021 Super Bowl halftime performer, took to Instagram to respond to the Grammy snub.

“The Grammys remain corrupt,” he wrote. “You owe me, my fans and the transparency of the industry. ”

It is suspected that due to a conflict between The Weeknd and the inability to perform at the show, he may have been overlooked for the awards.

The Weeknd isn’t the only star to speak out against Grammy nominations today. Teyana Taylor reacted specifically to the Best R&B Album category, which has only seen male nominees this year.

“You better just say the best male R&B ALBUM because all I see is d ** k in that category,” she tweeted.

Teyana also clarified that her criticisms were directed against the Recording Academy, not the men named. She responded to a news article claiming she was blowing up the nominees, add, “I don’t blow up male nominees. So change the deceptive legend. I explode the @RecordingAcad for failing ALL the women who worked. Women are clearly overlooked here. WOMEN PLAY A LARGE PART IN THE REACH OF R&B. ”

Justin Bieber also commented on the R&B category, but for a very different reason. The four-nominated “Yummy” frontman felt he should have been recognized for R&B instead of pop.

“I am flattered to be recognized and appreciated for my artistic talent. I am very meticulous and intentional in my music. That being said, I decided to make an R&B album. “Changes” was and still is an R&B album. It is not recognized as an R&B album, which is very strange to me, ”he wrote on Instagram.

Nicki Minaj didn’t mince words when she tweeted about the nominations. “Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my Best New Artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously on the billboard and a first week bigger than any rapper in the past decade – continued to inspire a generation, ”she writes. “They gave it to the white man Bon Iver.

Beyonce leads the field with nine nominations this year, while Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Roddy Rich have scored six. Trevor Noah has been announced as host of Biggest Night of Music, which will air live on CBS on Sunday, January 31, 2021.
