Golden Horde, impressive winner of this year’s Commonwealth Cup, will take up his stud duties at Haras de Montfort & Preaux in Nurlan Bizakov in Normandy alongside the great stallion Le Havre and the young Queen Recorder stallion. Its launch costs have been set at € 10,000.

The announcement ends a period of speculation over the position of the Group 1 winning sprinter after connections run out during his racing days in mid-October.

Golden Horde was trained throughout his ten-race career by Clive Cox, who also oversaw his father’s racing campaign, Lethal Force. Golden Horde has won twice to two, including a decisive victory over Threat and Royal Dornoch in Group 2 of the Richmond Stakes.

He again showed high class form by reaching the rankings in two Group 1 competitions, namely the Prix Morny and the Middle Park Stakes, which were just a neck out in the latter competition. He came back at age three with a dazzling performance in the Commonwealth Cup, a race he won at a comfortable length and a half.

He proved a pattern of consistency thereafter, finishing third in the July Cup, close to fifth in the Prix Maurice de Gheest and third in the Haydock Sprint Cup on what turned out to be his swan song.

“He was a very productive two-year-old who showed immense class from the start,” Cox said. “After doing well at Royal Ascot, he went on to win the Richmond Stakes in a very professional way and competed at the Group 1 level in Morny and Middle Park.

“He thrived through the winter and with his first Commonwealth Cup performance he showed he was the best three-year-old sprinter. He then faced his elders with a lot of credit in the July Cup and back in France. , as well as in his last race in the Haycock Sprint Cup. ”

Cox added, “With every race he has run, you have been assured of consistent, first class performance. He has a wonderful temperament and it has been an absolute joy to face the day to day. ”

Golden Horde is out of Entreat, a Pivotal winning half-sister to the Topkapi Trophy scorer’s producer whose four other winners are led by Cheveley Park Stud’s Pipalong Stakes exhortation. Further back is the active family of the prolific Serena’s Song, meaning that Group 1 names such as Sophisticate, Honor Code, Zabeel Prince and Rizeena appear in her back pedigree.

Bizakov also owns Hesmonds Stud in East Sussex and stud manager Tony Fry has confirmed that the creme of the farm brood mares will be part of the Golden Horde debut book.

Fry said of the new recruit: “He’s a shattering looking horse, very athletic and there’s a lot of Pivotal about him. He has a beautiful female lineage and he also has a great mind. was very tough on the track but a nice horse outside.

“His pedigree makes him an easy horse to mate and we will send him at least 12 mares, or around 30% of our brood mares. We could even buy additional mares in the next sales to support it.

“We really believe in him and we are going to give him every chance to succeed. We are very excited about it and would like Clive to train some of its products in the future. ”

Fry added: “Since Nurlan bought Montfort & Preaux, he has always intended to invest in France. France Galop is promoting the two year program there now, so the Golden Horde should suit France right now. get a horse like it comes, you have to take it. ”

Montfort & Preaux also released fees for his two other stallions, with the lightweight Le Havre, sire of five Group / Grade 1 winners including the Prix de Royallieu and the heroine of the British champions Fillies & Mares Stakes Wonderful Tonight, at the price of € 40,000, down from € 50,000 this year.
