The beautiful cliff abseil location I’m a Celebrity 2020 – and it’s not in Snowdonia

I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! came back last night and introduced some of the beautiful Anglesey coast. The new series began with the celebrities dropped off by helicopter at an undisclosed location, before being tasked with rappelling down an area cliff.

The challenge offered incredible scenery of the area, leaving viewers wondering where it had been shot.

ITV did not disclose the location in the first episode of I’m a Celebrity, but it has since been discovered locally.

There was initially speculation that the scenes were filmed in Snowdonia although this was not the case.

The recall was actually set against the backdrop of Penmon, a village near Beaumaris on Anglesey.

Vernon Kay was one of five celebrities who rappelled down the quarry cliff

It looks like celebrities have risen to the challenge in Flagstaff’s historic quarry along the island’s coast.

The quarry has been a source of limestone since the 16th century and was still in use in the early 1900s.

Along with others in Penmon, he supplied stone for important structures including Birmingham Town Hall.

Limestone from the area was also used to build the two bridges that cross the nearby Menai Strait.

The former Eastenders actress said: “Look at this, it’s beautiful. I wish I had my phone to take a picture. “

Five of the celebrities were tasked with handling the ropes, while the other five rappelled down the cliff

After rappelling off the cliff, the 10 celebrities were finally taken to camp at Gwrych Castle in Abergele.

This is where they will spend the next three weeks, although it is possible that they will venture for other challenges.
