Minecraft announced a new DLC pack – and it’s Star Wars-theme.
Through Minecraftblog post by, the pack includes “a map, a skin pack, a full set of custom textures, mobs and reskins items, user interface processing, and even a licensed soundtrack.” You will get the contents of the original trilogy (A new hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi) as good as The Mandalorian. To buy it, open the Marketplace on any device you use to play Minecraft.
The map includes 12 planets to explore, including Tatooine, Endor, and Hoth, which are populated by characters, droids, and creatures. There are all kinds of character skins out there including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Han Solo, and (of course) Baby Yoda. You can glide between planets in “hyperspace” using star hunters – the blog post notes that “you can fly from there in an X-wing or TIE fighter”.
From the promo video, it looks like you will be able to recreate an unlimited number of Star wars scenes, like the duel of Luke and Darth Vader in Cloud City. There is even a Death Star.
Minecraft liberated Star wars packaging in the past, but they mostly contained skins. Some dedicated fans have also recreated Star wars in Minecraft, but the feat lasted more than three years. It’s safe to say this is the first opportunity Minecraft players have already had to experiment Star wars universe on this scale.
