An effort to have the street named after Ryan Reynolds in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada hit a bump in the road.
The hosts and producers of The Kevin and Sonia Show With Tara Jean on 104.9 KiSS radio in Vancouver recently started a petition, claiming the Deadpool actor “Vancouver’s favorite son” who “deserves to have a street named after him (or at least an alley)”.
But this was Ryan Reynolds himself who shot down the effort in a hilarious response
Using a charming dose of his contagious and self-deprecating humor, Blake Lively’s husband tweeted, “Very nice but going tough. ”
Thank you, but no thank you: Ryan Reynolds jokingly pushed back on having a street named after him in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada
“If the traffic sucks, everyone will say, ‘Ryan Reynolds is a mess’ or ‘Ryan Reynolds is really supported.’
He added, “My brothers would appreciate this too much.
If Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart were to take action, the 44-year-old actor has three brothers – Jeff, Patrick and Terry – who would be able to torture him with playful good humor.
Despite the rebuff, radio host Kevin Lim, who helped start the petition, has given up on the effort for now.
‘OMG @VancityReynolds responded to our petition to name a street after him in Vancouver !!!’ Lim tweeted.
“Should we continue? Even if it’s just so his brothers can laugh at him?
Brotherly love: Deadpool star, 44, politely rejects petition asking for a street to be named after him, in part, so he doesn’t have to be the butt of many jokes from his three brothers
Moving forward? The radio show behind the petition asked fans and subscribers if they should continue pushing for the petition despite Reynolds’ polite rejection.
Making a difference: In defense of Reynolds, those behind the petition cited the charitable contributions Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively have made in the Vancouver area
Advocating for the petition, Lim and his cohorts on the radio show revealed that Reynolds not only captured our hearts on the big screen, but his humanitarian efforts made him a beloved local treasure that sums up the best of Vancouverites. , and fully deserves this recognition in his hometown.
They even listed some of the charitable contributions Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively made for his hometown in 2020 alone.
The petition was launched Thursday and has already collected nearly 3,000 signatures.
