“Say he wants Newcastle, there were rumors,” Lee said. “If he goes out there and struggles, then he might not be chosen for France anyway. It could happen. He is in a club where if he enters, he will have chances to score.
“If he joins a club like Newcastle, he could start every game and be the same as Joelinton – and not have any chances. Does he want to leave London? He is happy there. I don’t see him leaving.
TBR’s point of view – do Newcastle need another striker?
Callum Wilson started life at Newcastle in sensational form, since moving from Bournemouth. He replaced the disappointing Joelinton, who remains an option on Tyneside to replace Giroud.
Andy Carroll is another option as well, offering something different from Wilson and Joelinton – but perhaps more similar to Giroud. Dwight Gayle showed towards the end of last season that he is capable of scoring in the Premier League.
Newcastle has options, and good options. Do they need Giroud? He would be an improvement, but he would still be Wilson’s second violin.
