Wentworth Miller turned down the chance to appear in a sixth season of Prison Break because he “doesn’t want to play straight characters anymore.”

Taking to Instagram on Sunday to discuss the trolls he received on social media about his sexuality, the 48-year-old actor slammed those with “Stone Age values” for criticizing him for their homosexuality.

Although he receives “loving” and “supportive” messages from fans, Wentworth felt that the negative trolls he received proved that it was even more important for him to tell queer stories rather than to return to the role of Michael Scofield.

‘I’m outside. Officially “: Wentworth Miller of Prison Break revealed on Sunday that he turned down the chance to return for a sixth season because he” didn’t want to play straight characters anymore “

In a long caption to a blank Instagram post, he explained, “I’m not concerned about myself. I cannot be “intimidated” in this space. I have too much power. ” Remove. Block. Deactivate. »Etc.

“But I take seriously the possibility of queer kids visiting here, recently out of the closet, or exploring the idea… I don’t want them exposed to the b ******.”

“On a related note… I’m absent. From PB. Officially. No social media statics (although that did focus the problem).

“I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told). Therefore. No more Michael.

Prison Break ran for five seasons, with the first four airing between 2005 and 2009, before being relaunched in 2017 for another release.

The gritty drama focused on Michael’s plan to help Lincoln escape prison after being sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit.

Season five was a sequel that took place seven years after the original show and saw Michael return from the dead as he fought to regain his identity and eliminate Poseidon, the person responsible for his disappearance.

The limited series ended with Michael refusing to join the CIA so he could live a normal life with his wife Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) and their son Mike.

Despite Dominic’s post, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier dashed hopes for a sixth season in August 2019, as he said the channel had “no plans” to make it happen.

He explained, “There’s no plan right now to revive Prison Break or any of the other franchises, but when the creators come up with a story they think is the right time to tell, we’re so ready to listen because these are franchises of which I am so proud and so lucky that they are in our stable.
