The Steelers are hosting an extended tour today to give Roethlisberger some helmet work ahead of Sunday’s game.
“If he doesn’t follow protocol,” Tomlin said on Friday, “we’ll have an extended tour tomorrow just to give him an in-helmet perspective on some of the situational things to put the finishing touches on our work, to allow him to work with the eligible ones he worked with in the game, to have all the necessary informal conversations that allow us to have a level of comfort when we enter the game. ”
The Steelers expected Roethlisberger to clarify protocol and they’ve been preparing all week ahead of his departure against the Bengals. Even though Roethlisberger hasn’t trained, the Steelers have confidence in their 17-year veteran.
“I’m not too worried about it,” Tomlin said Tuesday. “This guy has been doing his job for 17 years. He has instant experience that he can call upon. We will still be working extremely hard virtually to prepare. Much of his work is over the neck in terms of preparation anyway. I have very little worry about this, to be completely honest with you. “
