While the song is no longer available for purchase (or to stream), this one-day issue would likely place Phoebe & Maggie’s “Iris” in the running to become one of the top-selling songs of the week (mix from November 13 to 19)). For reference, 28,000 in sales would have been enough in sales to BillboardThe multi-week digital song sales chart so far this year – although for this follow-up week it will face stiff competition in Billie Eilish’s new song “Therefore I Am”, as well as in several country songs with increased sales following performances at Wednesday’s CMA Awards. The total sales over a day may also be enough for the duo’s “Iris” cover to fight for the Billboard Hot 100 multi-metric chart. It would be a particularly notable Hot 100 entry for both artists, as neither Bridgers nor Rogers have yet to make their appearance on the charts. (Both checked multiple entries on BillboardHot Rock & Alternative Songs, with Bridgers peaking at # 25 in 2018 for his appearance in Lord Huron’s “The Night We Met”, and Rogers rising to No.18 in 2016 with his hit “Alaska”. “)

The original “Iris” from the Goo Goo Dolls, released for the first time on the City of Angels the soundtrack in 1998, reached 9th place on the Hot 100. This peak would likely have been even higher without the Hot 100 rules deeming songs not released as commercial singles not eligible for rating – which have were knocked out at the end of 1998, just in time for the song to make its late top 10 debut, but after its enormous popularity had already peaked. It remained # 1 on BillboardThe then unprecedented 18-week Radio Songs chart, a record that held until this year, when The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” stood at the top for a staggering 26 frames.

Proceeds from the Phoebe & Maggie “Iris” cover will benefit Georgian politician Stacey Abrams ‘organization Fair Fight, which promotes fair elections in Abrams’ home state and nationwide, while also encouraging voter participation and educating voters about their rights. The full week of sales monitoring from November 13 to 19 will impact November 28 Billboard charts, which will be updated on Billboard.com on November 24.
