Ontario Reports 1,242 New Cases of COVID-19

Ontario is reporting 1,242 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, a slight drop from Sunday’s record 1,328 cases. This is the fourth day in a row that more than 1,000 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded and the fifth time in the past seven days.

The newest cases are in Toronto (483), followed by Peel (279) and York Region (107).

The upward trend in cases comes just as the province implemented a new color-coded assessment system that a public health unit dismissed as being too lenient.

Provincial health officials have performed 28,400 tests in the previous 24 hours.
